POST 3: Creativity GRQ and Discussion

Post 3 General Reading Questions 1. True 2. True 3. True- 24 points each 4. True 5. True 6. True 7. True 8. True 9. True 10. True 11. True 12. True Discussion on Creativity I think this article is super interesting. I have always found research on how the brain works to be quite fascinating so this is no different. I do have a few thoughts on specific quotes from the article. "Creativity involves a complex interplay between spontaneous and controlled thinking" I think this is such a unique way to put it. When I am beginning to create something film related, I usually start based on an idea I have. I can practically hit play on it in my mind, but then when it comes to writing it down and creating it, I have a harder time and have to put more energy into it.  "People who did better on this task also tended to report having more creative hobbies and achievements" I think this is pretty interesting, but also kind of self explanatory when I look at it. People who use the...

POST 2: Raul Cuero

The video we watched in class is an interview with the Scientist, Raul Cuero. Raul Cuero explains how he grew up in a small town of people who looked identical to him. They all went to school in order to get jobs, and never really considered anything else. This is until he traveled to a city for the first time and then started to see the bigger picture. Raul mentions in the video the difference between kids who grew up in technology versus kids who grew up in nature. I agree with him that there is a major difference between the two. I feel like my generation, who grew up with a mix of technology and nature, has a lot more social connections than the generation who are growing up right now. Adults always say that "kids are addicted to their phones" but it has only gotten worse because of the pandemic and being forced to use technology. I think it was very interesting when Raul said that you can't plan creativity so you should enjoy the process. I find this to be true in so...

POST 1: Profile and Picture

Image
Hello! My name is Dakota Smith. I am a third year Film and Media Arts major from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. When I'm back home on Cape Cod I love to go to the beach, hang out with my family and friends, and work. This past summer was my second year working as a Wedding Videographer and it was so much fun. I love to travel around Cape and see all the different weddings with everyone's cultures and personal twists added on (this past summer there was a fireworks show at one!). Speaking of traveling, I love traveling! I have been all up and down the East Coast of the USA, and abroad twice. The first time I went abroad, I visited Northern Italy and stayed with a host family for two weeks. It was so interesting to see their culture and how different they lived over there. The second time, was this past summer (the photo above!) when I visited around the United Kingdom. My favorite place I went to was Holmes Chapel, a small town near Manchester, England. It is home to my all time fav...
